When I was growing up a large portion of my collection then consisted of sets that I purchased through hard work. I would save up enough to buy a whole box of cards and then I would get this huge kick out of opening them up and sorting them out.
We’ve done this a couple of times, but the true expert doesn’t go this route.
Buying unopened product is a total waste of money and time.
About 90% of the time and buying singles is way more cost efficient. Most boxes will yield you very little in value and after awhile, you’ll start to see how fast it adds up, but you have nothing to show for all that money you spent.
Example: a box costs you $100, but most boxes have garbage in them in return, so buying singles is much more wise and for $100, you will usually get a nicer card than most boxes
Of course you don’t get the box feel, opening the packages is a lot of fun. But if you really want to collect cards the best value for your money is in the singles.
